About the Role: Project Engineer
As a Project Engineer, you will play a vital role in the successful execution of civil construction projects by ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and according to the highest standards of safety and quality. You will act as a key support figure for the Project Manager and Superintendent, helping to maintain streamlined operations throughout the lifecycle of the project.
Your main responsibility will be to ensure daily project coordination, document control and communication with subcontractors and suppliers. Your ability to coordinate tasks, anticipate challenges and provide real-time updates will contribute significantly to the overall performance and reputation of the project and company.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and wants to engage with projects involving heavy civil works such as roadways, bridges, grading, utility installation and more.
Key Responsibilities
In this hands-on position, you’ll manage a wide array of engineering, documentation, procurement and coordination tasks to support the project team from the pre-construction phase through completion. Below are your core duties:

Subcontractor Agreements Management:
Draft, edit and prepare subcontractor contracts for internal review and approval by the Project Manager. Ensure that executed agreements are returned in a timely fashion and entered into the project system for tracking. -
Subcontractor Oversight:
Oversee and manage day-to-day aspects of subcontractor participation. This includes confirming compliance with specifications, safety protocols, schedules and quality expectations. -
Project Scheduling & Logistics:
Coordinate work schedules and ensure timely delivery of materials, supplies and equipment to avoid delays. You will also plan logistics to support project milestones and minimize site disruptions. -
Submittals Administration:
Request, review, compile and submit required project submittals. Track their approval and return process meticulously to avoid any disruptions during construction. -
Procurement Coordination:
Gather material quotes from approved suppliers and submit purchase order requests for approval. Ensure timely acquisition of materials while maintaining budgetary goals. -
Materials Tracking:
Maintain precise records of material usage, pending requirements and current inventory to ensure efficient resource allocation and avoid shortages. -
Request for Information (RFI) Preparation:
Draft, track and manage Requests for Information. Ensure timely responses and maintain documentation for future reference or audits. -
Field Documentation:
Manage daily field documentation including purchase orders, reports and correspondence. Ensure clear and accurate record-keeping of all transactions and communication with vendors, clients and subcontractors. -
Internal Reporting:
Prepare and distribute daily logs, timesheets and written communications to keep internal teams informed about project progress, safety concerns and pending issues. -
Site Inspections:
Conduct job site walkthroughs to evaluate progress and safety compliance. Address and escalate issues to the Superintendent as needed. -
Project Meetings Participation:
Attend routine site coordination meetings with owners, subcontractors and other stakeholders. Take notes, communicate project objectives and assist with resolutions of disputes or discrepancies. -
Travel Requirements:
Be open and available for travel to various project sites, depending on assignment. Projects may span across different cities, regions or even states.
Educational & Professional Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates should bring a combination of academic credentials and real-world experience. The ideal applicant will have:

Bachelor’s Degree Preferred:
A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a closely related field is strongly preferred and will significantly enhance your performance in this role. -
Relevant Construction Experience (1+ Years):
A minimum of one year of experience in heavy civil construction is expected. This may include hands-on involvement in areas such as:-
